Herodot’s Amphora and Ten Instants of SculptureEverybody know: the essence is in the concept. But try to answer the question: “How do you invent your artworks?” It’s not possible to explain, you would newer get an answer! I would better tell you this story: “An antique amphora lives in my house. I think it lives there for 20 years already. It’s almost the half of life for me, and for amphora it is a small instant. It is 2400 years! It came from Greece to a Scythian barrow. Greeks brought is from the other side of the Black sea from the town where according to the legend Herodot “The Father of the History” was born. So if I need to invent something I polish my amphora with a hand and… fascinating idea comes to me. Alladin also used to polish a magic lamp! For these purposes I have my Herodot’s Amphora. Trust me it’s even better and a thousand years older! Sometimes the Snake Island or Ulster Cliffs or Hannover stallions or fantastic Cappadocia landscape… or the bridges of Luxemburg take “the role of the Amphora” and provoke creative impulse. Somebody can say: tell it to the marines. And it’s partly the truth. But I think this truth is not too far from the real truth!..
